On the front terrace of the Natural History Museum is a seasonal exhibit called Amazing Butterflies. It is amazing! The entrance is through a huge caterpillar tent after which you're thrown into a life-size maze taking you through the different stages of caterpillar to butterfly transformation. The kids loved getting "lost" and playing with all the interactive displays.
At the end of the maze was the butterfly house. The first thing you notice when you walk in, besides the 100s of insects buzzing your head, is the intense heat! We saw the most beautiful butterflies in all different shapes, sizes and colors, and we learned that they eat rotten fruit. Yuck!
Besides the butterflies, the flowers were absolutely stunning!
We finished off the day, and a couple of ice cream cones, with a quick trip to the "T-Rex" museum (aka The National History Museum) to see our favorite dinosaur in action!
