The Challenge
On Monday, I started reading the story of Paddington bear to Justin before going to bed (in honor of his friend Benjamin). I thought it would be a good one because he would have to close his eyes and imagine what was happening . . . and hopefully fall asleep quickly. Tonight he interrupted me with "Excuse me, mama. Can we read something a little more challenging, with pictures in it, 'cause I don't know what you're talking about." Maybe we'll try another version.

Too, too funny. Go you blogging! I'm averaging about twice a month on a good month myself!
Benjamin actually started with the picture book version of Paddington. And for some reason the CDs work better than me reading chapter books to him. I tried to read the Chapter books Ralph S. Mouse to him and even though he was familiar with the story, it didn't fly like the books on CD. Go figure. In any case, all fiction is just my attempt to persuade him to expand his vision beyond nonfiction which is still the books du jour around here.
Can we send the heat wave to you?
I'm excited to keep updated on your family adventures. Miss you guys so much. I can't believe how big your kids are getting. I guess that's what happens as much as we want to fight it they just keep getting bigger and bigger.
